The PROM8908F has its major point on its speed and reliability.

It has a unique circuit structure which lets it handle (doing the write/verify action) all 8 sockets simultaneously so the production quantity is relatively much higher than the other gang programmers.

It uses a simple method to isolate each socket's signal pin so one troubled chip in one socket will not influence the others, and the machine is protected on each pin of its sockets to keep it from damages caused by a chip on it. This will make it rigid and has a low maintain rate.
